About the Event

Finning is proud to host the 7th Annual Motorcycle Event benefiting the United Way of the Alberta Capital Region.

Over the years it’s been Finning’s privilege to sponsor the motorcycle ride. Through the hard work of the organizers and the generosity of the riders and their pledges, the event has raised a grand total of $79,950.00. It’s incredible that 100% of those funds go directly to the United Way of the Alberta Capital Region.

This year’s ride is being held Saturday September 17. The early bird registration fee of $45.00 includes a t-shirt from the event; and an incredible lunch. We are fortunate this year to have a chef from Noralta Lodge provide the lunch on-site at Finning’s head office location, where you will enjoy a menu of pulled pork, pulled beef, and salads. We have also added a poker rally and a motorcycle show & shine that riders can participate in and win prizes. A 50/50 draw will be held and door prizes will also be drawn.

REGISTRATION

  • Early bird $45.00 for each rider registered on or before August 26th. Early bird registrations are guaranteed t-shirts & lunch.
  • Late registration $50.00 if registering after the August 26th deadline (t-Shirts will not be provided, but lunch will be included).
  • Registrations will be accepted on event day. (includes lunch)
  • Don't want to ride, but want to be part of the event? For a $10 donation to the United Way you can join us for lunch and the demonstrations at 1:00pm at the Finning Head Office located at 16901 – 109 Avenue. Please purchase lunch admission in advance.

The ride will go ahead rain or shine; but we are hoping for “shine”! The ride is open to anyone, so spread the word and see if we can make this a record event!

This event welcomes all types of motorcycles.

If you have any questions or require additional information, please contact our event coordinators at: ride@finning.com.

Heritage Harley joins Finning Motorcycle Ride for United Way September 17!

The 7th Annual Finning Motorcycle Ride, September 17, is shaping up to be a fantastic event. Heritage Harley-Davidson will be joining us with the JumpStart simulator, so you can feel what it’s like to ride a Harley even if you’ve never ridden before. Providing you have the right license and equipment; you’ll also get the chance to take a demo of some of the new 2017 models for a donation to the United Way. The Boyer Race team will also be there and will be firing up a 1000 HP Top Fuel Nitro Harley. If you are coming from the south side to ride, you are welcome to start with Heritage Harley at 1616 Calgary Trail at 8:00 AM for a pre-ride coffee, then join the Harley crew in a ride to the Finning starting line.

Don’t want to ride, but want to be a part of the event? For a $10 donation to the United Way you can join us for lunch and the demonstrations at 1 pm at the Finning Head Office located at 16901-109 Avenue.

Justin King, a stunt rider that works at Cat the Rental Store at Ft.Mckay put on a show during the BBQ at the event. Justin blew everyone away with his riding abilities, and the control he had over his bike putting on a great performance that was enjoyed by everyone.

Dacapa Crane generously provides us with a location to depart from and return to where they host a BBQ for all participants and volunteers. Their generosity helps make this event possible.

Our Motorcycle Ride went ahead as planned despite the rain. We knew it was unlikely that all 115 registered riders would make it, but in the past we’ve had riders show up despite snow, rain, and sleet, so we knew it would still be a success. Approximately 70 riders, with spirits high, participated in the ride raising a total of $16,500.00 – that brings the event total to $65,000 in the five years.

Thank you to all participants, and sponsors that have made the event the success it has been for the past five years, and a big thank you to Candy for her dedication and perseverance in making each motorcycle ride better than the last.

A very special thank you to all of our volunteers, this event wouldn’t run smoothly and safely without you.

2012 we knew we needed to make an impression and that is exactly what we did! Over $21,500.00 raised in one single event, and 150 motorcycles joining us plus passengers and volunteers, we impressed 200 people.

We were nominated for our 4th year event by the United Way for Campaign Special Event of the year. The ride has now raised over $47,297.25! Thank you to all that have been a part of this. It is something that everyone should be proud of.

2011 and we know that we can’t stop now! As Finning was preparing for a major software update and lives were busy we had to still make it happen! We decided not to make our 3rd year too big and only take on what we could with the workloads we were all under.

We had people join us for their first time that year, as well as some that joined us for their first time. It has been great to see people every year come out and enjoy the day with us, as well as meet all the new people we have over the years. Our 3rd year brought 57 people out to ride and raised $8500.00.

The 2010 event started a lot better, we were well prepared and ready to go. Again we had an overwhelming response and interest in the event. We had people that were coming from all over the province to ride that day for charity. The morning of the event, it was -5 and we were venturing to Athabasca for a BBQ lunch.

We had no idea that morning what it meant for the event. But as we gathered at Dacapa Crane for registration that morning, bikes started showing up, and more kept coming. We departed at 9:00am in the light drizzle and headed to Athabasca; we had a very quick lunch and headed back to Edmonton in the SNOW. What we couldn’t believe, is that we had over 40 motorcycles participate and still raised $7,057.25.

2009 was our first year for the event. We talked to people to see if there would be any interest in this type event and then started the planning. We really didn’t know where to start or what we needed to do. But, we knew it was all possible and set out to do the best we could.

For our first event, we set a goal to have 25 bikes, not really knowing what to expect. WOW! Were we ever shocked to see over 100 motorcycle enthusiasts participate, and we raised just over $10,000.00 for our first event. Not only did we learn what we needed to change in the upcoming years, we also learned that this event is a success and has potential to be more even more.

Past Event Feedback

Thank you for not only putting this all on but for letting me crash the party! I have participated in many bike runs and I can honestly say this was the most professional and well-orchestrated by far. Had an absolute blast, and am already trying to figure out how to get my bike up here for next year (no joke). My entire team is going to be extremely jealous. Was talking with Doug this afternoon and am still blown away with how successful this ride was (both turnout and money raised). While I know you love riding that fancy broom, perhaps next year you can join us on the open road?

Evan
Thank you for wonderful time Saturday, it was amazing to be part of this. You and group are truly angels on earth.  God Bless.

Jim & Brenda
Hey Thank you guys awesome job again.

Hank VanDrunen
A quick note to say thanks for all the time and effort you put into the Finning Bike Run, in support of United Way. It went off without a hitch, was well received, the food and door prizes were great, and to top it all off, the weather co-operated! I look forward to participating again next year.

Dave B. Wilton
CONGRATULATIONS!!  I just heard about your ride.  That is amazing, especially given all the competition for rides/runs/walks every weekend.  Good for you - way to go!  And you had great weather this year too.  Sorry I missed it this year.

Brian Dompe
Looks like a impressive turnout on you ride...Sigh, we just watched them cruise on by, I wish we could join them and not work!
